From the Winemaker
In creating Vitiano Rosato, I combined the quality, terroir and historic traditions of Umbria with modern winemaking pracices to craft a wine of contemporary style and character. Vitiano Rosato's lush fruit character is rich, yet soft and well-balanced. Aleatico, a unique, ancient varietal, adds enticing fragrance on the nose and rich texture on the palate. Fresh strawberry and floral notes make this wine ideal for enjoying on its own or paired with grilled meats and spicy barbeque.
Vitiano Rosato is produced from 30% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Aleatico grapes, manually harvested at their optimal ripeness. After a brief period of maceration at a very cool temperature, the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness and bright color. Within the same production area as Vitiano Rosso, the soil with the most suitable characteristics was selected to grow these grapes for the vinification rosato wines.
Deep coral-pink in color, Vitiano Rosato delivers clean, juicy aromas of strawberries, plums, and cranberries, along with scents of roses and gardenias. Vitiano Rosato is the perfect wine for summer, dry, medium-bodied, and refreshing.
It is delicious with salads, grilled vegetables, grilled salmon or tuna, and alongside mussels marinara.
Evolution Says...
It's becoming common to declare certain light and acidic wines are great with spicy Asian dishes. Sorry to rely on what has become an old chestnut of a pairing, but Vitiano Rosato is amazing with Thai Papaya Salad or chicken skewers marinated in chili sauce. I brought this bottle to my favorite Thai restaurant to share with friends and ended up talking more about the wine than anything else.
