From the Winemaker
As the morning mist disperses across the undulating countryside the Shaya deer emerge from teh surrounding pine forest to forage. The gnarled vineyards planted a very long time ago in the sandy riverstone soil produce the finest Verdejo in Rueda. There is a distinct minerality in these wines which compliment the abundance of fruit flavors.
Medium-bodied, flavorful and typical Verdejo grape containing lavish amounts of tropical fruits such as mangoes and papayas, backed by green apples and fresh citrus. Fresh, cool minerals flavors and surprisingly complex. Can be stored for some years.
Critical Commentary
90 Points - International Wine Cellar
"Bright, green-tinged straw. Intense green apple, pear skin and lime aromas are complicated by white pepper and herbs. Taut and refreshingly bitter, with attractive herbal and mineral accents to the ripe citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Finishes clean and long, with an echoing peppery note."
Evolution Says...
Old vine wines are always a treat and should be experienced whenever possible.
