The presence of the wine on the palate is immediately captivating. Paradoxically concentrated yet creamy, it is energetic and warm in the mouth, focusing on the fruit, then gradually taking on more profound bass notes. The whole holds its note perfectly, intensively, with just a subtle, elegant hint of underlying bitterness. - winemaker

critical acclaim:
"The 2002 Dom Perignon is at first intensely floral, with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet. With time in the glass the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical. Ripe apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge from this flashy, opulent Dom Perignon. The wine's volume makes it approachable today, but readers in search of more complexity will want to cellar this for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off. Geoffroy describes the vintage as very ripe and adds that some of the Chardonnay showed the ill-effects of the hot growing season in it the somewhat burned, dehydrated fruit that came in that year. This bottle was disgorged in July, 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2032 "
96 Points
The Wine Advocate

"Harmonious and huge, this is a bold vinous Champagne with the fresh pear flavor intensity of Puligny from a great vintage. Peter Liem commented that the reductive winemaking balanced the weight and ripeness this wine achieved in 2002. For all its size and power, it shows remarkable suppleness and elegance. This is a champagne with sophistication and discretion, one tha will gain from long aging."
96 Points
Wine & Spirits

"A rich and smoky Champagne in a graceful package, with a beautiful, fine-grained texture to it and layers of flavor-biscuit, candied lemon peel, coffee liqueur, chamomile, pine, crystallized honey and wood smoke. This is the haute couture of the Champagne world-all about elegance, texture and attention to detail. Drink now through 2027."
95 Points
Wine Spectator

Bodega Emina is a "green winery" in Rueda -- it uses solar power, recycles vine clippings and all the other byproducts of wine making, and re-purifies its waste water before returning it to the environment. Oh, and they also make a tasty verdejo - fresh and zingy, but deep and expressive like a white wine grown in a high-plains desert. Serve with bold cheese, spicy seafood, and other white meats.

Nothing says 'celebration' more than a bottle of champagne. Veuve Clicquot is one of those champagnes known by all, familiar by sight and by taste. When the pop of the cork is heard, the anticipation of the event has come to full fruition and there is nothing left to do but enjoy the fruits of your labor. Whether you are celebrating the purchase of a new home, the culmination of a business deal, the milestone in educational achievement, or being with the right person at the right time, you cannot go wrong with Veuve.

From the Winemaker

Clicquot's signature non-vintage Brut is loved all over the world for its crisp, full flavors, consistent quality and celebratory yellow label. This classical dry Champagne is a blend of two-thirds black grapes (Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) for body, balanced with one-third Chardonnay for elegance. It has a fine persistent sparkle and golden Champagne color.

The musical score for the Roessler Gap's Crown Pinot Noir would begin with the smooth sounds of a cello melding into a rich melody of a string quartet.
The Etude Pinot Noir Carneros Estate hails from our vineyard tucked away in the far northwest corner of the Carneros appellation. Unlike customary Carneros acreage, which is largely uplifted bay bottoms with soils composed of clay, the soils on the Etude Estate site are variations of volcanic origin. They are well-drained, rocky upland soils. Combining these soils with the extreme western location closer to the Pacific Ocean makes this site a decidedly distinct destination.

True ruby in color, the 2008 Pinot Noir bottling offers aromas of strawberries and sous bois mingled with aromatic woods. Hints of sandalwood and cedar on the nose are followed by elegant fruit flavor on the palate. Berry, plum and a cherry core introduce the wine. The saturated cherry and confiture notes are rounded out by brown spice, clove and oak toast on the finish. A lushness arises from the warmer growing season, creating a lively and defined Pinot Noir with freshness and length.

Critical Commentary

91 Points - Wine Advocate
"The least expensive offering, the 2008 Pinot Noir Estate exhibits copious aromas of forest floor, strawberries, black cherries and hints of Allspice and herbs. Medium-bodied, beautifully textured and complex, it is ideal for drinking now and over the next 5-6 years"

Evolution Says...

Flawless. Usually an adjective reserved for gemstones like diamonds, but the 2008 Etude Pinot Noir Carneros is a gem of a wine and worthy of an adjective like 'flawless'. For the lover of Pinot Noir wines, this expression from winemaker Jon Priest is a must have - at the very least a must try! Do not miss out on this opportunity to experience this flawless Californian Pinot Noir.

The 2011 Kato Sauvignon Blanc immediately stands out for its vibrant aromas of melon, passionfruit and citrus enhanced by notes of dried herbs. The palate combines the same elegant fruit flavors with a flintiness and minerality so representative of this terroir. Enjoy this balanced, long-finishing wine now and over the next few years. A versatile food partner, pair with seafood, especially seafood pasta, pork and poultry, vegetable dishes and salads and ethnic cuisine.

Kato Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from Marlborough, New Zealand, the premier New World growing region for this variety. The vineyards are located in the Awatere Valley, where coastal influences protect the fruit from sharp morning frosts. The word Kato means “harvest” in Maori, referring to the unique heritage of the region. The Kato logo is a representation of three intertwined whale tails and was inspired by the Cook Strait, which separates the North and South Islands of New Zealand and is a migration route for humpback whales. As a wine company dedicated to sustainable principles in the vineyard we are also concerned with the protection of all natural environments, including the ocean and the creatures in it.

When the Wirra Wirra tribe built a viewing platform to take in the majestic outlook over our Scrubby Rise vineyard, it was soon christened the Jetty. The fact this structure overlooks gnarled old vines and not a raging sea, seemed somehow appropriate given Greg Trott's decision all those years ago to name a flat, baren landscape Scrubby Rise. At Wirra Wirra things are not always what they seem, like our twist on an Australian favourite -- chardonnay -- but without the influence of oak. To be enjoyed with food sometimes, without occasionally, and with friends always.

Youthful vibrant nose of lemon zest and white peach flesh with complexing notes of cinnamon, clove spice and citrus blossom.

Made in the Santa Barbara countryside, Sexual Chocolate is a true California wine, blending old vine Zinfandel from Napa's Howell Mountain with warm climate Santa Barbra Syrah. The Zinfandel presents a rich, warm feel that could be confused with biting into a chocolate covered cherry, while the Syrah adds a smooth, deep and refined finish. Sexual Chocolate pairs well with late nights, friends, and a second bottle of Sexual Chocolate.

This bottle originated from a bootlegging operation my buddies and I had in college. We started making wine knowing it would be used for late night drinking, and that the French are annoying. It took some time, but we finally perfected our blend and came up with this full bodied red that pairs well with Wednesday nights and pizza. We use grapes from all over California so we recommend this be drank immediately and shared with girls.

The 2009 vintage shows aromas of bright grapefruit, fresh pears, honeysuckle and orange blossoms. Enjoy bright green apple, honeydew melon and lemon citrus flavors with a touch of meringue. You may also notice a slight spritz to the wine upon opening. This small amount of effervescence helps the aromas fill the glass with less swirling required. The 2009 displays a tremendous balance. It is sweet enough to brighten the fruit, acidic enough to support the typical German creamy texture and rich enough to shop the depth of flavors. Bex is best described as a "Tweener" or an off-dry style-neither too sweet nor too dry. Enjoy as a perfect aperitif, summer sipper, accompaniment to light or spicy cuisine or as a finale.

Minerality is prominent on the nose, with background notes of peach and grapefruit. The palate brings a lovely combination of rock, citrus peel, white peach, and mint. This is medium-bodied, palate-coating Riesling that conveys richness and only the faintest whisper of sweetness. At just 12.4 alcohol, the acids shine, keeping things bright and refreshing, and the lingering finish is all about the rocks.

This Pinot Noir exhibits strawberry, raspberry, and cola aromas. The palate is elegant with bold ripe strawberry flavors, lively acidity, and silky tannins.

Critical Commentary

Light reddish-purple color in the glass. Charming aromas of strawberries, cranberries, balsam, red hard candy and spice fading some over time in the glass. Light, even dilute, with cherries featured. Hints of strawberries, vanillin and sandalwood add interest. Alcohol peaks out on the finish. An easy drinker that has enough charm to hold your attention.
Queen of Hearts Pinot Noir is a great middle of the road Pinot representing a lot of the great traits you expect from a Pinot. The palate is mouth filling yet focused with an earthy character running throughout and building to a spicy finish that lingers.
92 Points - Australian Wine Companion
"The first shiraz grenache blends were made by d'Arry Osborn 50 years ago, and have since been embedded in the history of McLaren Vale. The healthy colour of this vintage is a good start, as is the distinctly fragrant bouquet with its amalgam of spice, leather and red and black fruits.
California's Anderson Valley stands as on of the most beautiful winegrowing regions anywhere on earth, a dramatic landscape marked by steep hillsides, ancient groves and fog-laden mornings. We were compelled to cultivate Pinot Noir here, and have been inspired by the results, for our vineyards high over the valley yield wines laden with vivid, dark fruit, silky textural elements and a pronounced mineral streak.

Herein lies the expression of our field of dream - Champ de Reves.

Characteristic aromas/flavors: Blueberry, red earth, and nutmeg spice with hints of violet, toffee and oolong tea.

Structure: Silky and generous entry, slate-like minerality, and muscular tannin on the Finish - a testament to high altitude winegrowing.

Critical Commentary

"The debut Pinot, the 2010 Champ de Rêves, is an excellent beginning. As I learned over the weekend, the 2010 vintage is one to watch carefully as a big, rich, but not over-ripe year with plenty of supporting acidity. Since 2009 was also above average, the Anderson Valley Pinot folks now have two consecutive vintages to help them and everyone else forget about the smoke-plagued 2008 Pinots." - Connoisseurs Guide to California Wines

Evolution Says...

The 2010 Champ de Reves Pinot Noir captivated me with the first sip. When it comes to pinot noir, a great one can turn your day around and Champ de Reves is more than capable of taking any lackluster moment and making it astounding. Pinot lovers will sweep this bottle off its feet, dance the night away with it, and marry it in a charming little chapel somewhere in Mexico where they will devote their lives to this charming, lovely and incredibly generous wine.

You may admire a label, recognise a name, or recall a great review... in essence you're making an "Educated Guess." This is exactly what goes on in the vineyards and wineries around the world. When should we pick the grapes? Should we barrel age in French Oak? Will our customers like the package? We use our knowledge, intuition, and years of experience to make the best possible decisions; however, at the end of the day, it still remains an "Educated Guess." At Roots Run Deep Winery we have done the Guesswork for you.
This Pinot Noir has a deep garnet color with ripe cherry and strawberry rhubarb, backed with earthy tones and subtle clove spice. Simply put, it has the Pinot Noir perfume backed with earthy spice. On the palate the wine is a full bodied Pinot with finesse. It is very Burgundian in style in its reserved use of oak, yet it is sappy on the palate with rich, sweet cherry and soft tannins. This is a serious Pinot Noir which drinks better than most wines at twice the price.

This wine pairs well with tuna seared rare with couscous and broccoli rabe.
Significantly, the individual icons of each label reflect the labours, inventive thinking and aspirations of all at Yalumba. This Vermentino depicts the Ligurian bee, both of which are perfectly suited to the South Australian environment. Tireless creatures that have been exalted for the quality of their honey, bees 'dance' to communicate with the hive, a ritual replicated by our team at Yalumba. A lemon sherbet mouthful best drunk fresh, zesty and youthful.

A pale green straw in colour, the Yalumba Y Series Vermentino 2011 has prominent aromas of jasmine and white nectarine, complemented by lashes of cumquat and sandalwood.
Ritual was created as an elegant, yet approachable interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc. Only the finest estate-grown fruit from vineyard blocks known to produce intense fruit flavors and higher acidity are chosen for this wine. The resulting wine is medium-bodied, featuring a rounder, more textural mouth feel with balanced acidity. Intense flavors of ripe tropical fruit mingle with hints of citrus in structured complexity from 5 months of French oak aging. The experience ends with a long, smooth finish.

Critical Commentary

Nose: resinous cedar, blueberry, cherry and black pepper notes Palate: firm tannins, medium mouth feel, good food pairing wine, Finish: fruity and short. Overall: this wine was a gift from friends. I have seen it online ranging anywhere from $23 -$30. Overall the wine is a nice, meal-friendly cab. It should be paired with food. It will complement beef and hearty soups and stews. As a vegetarian, I had it with cheeses, hearty minnestrone and a fantastic salad. Uppercut Cabernet Sauvignon boasts aromas of dark fruit, espresso, violet and spice. Smooth blackberry, black cherry and cocoa flavors expand across the palate, revealing nuances of caramel and toffee from new oak barrels. This broad-shouldered Cabernet Sauvignon draws you in with its expressive nose. The deep flavors—structured with firm, approachable tannins and lively midpalate acidity—stand up to the bold flavors of grilled rib-eye steaks and braised short ribs. Its multilayered personality is unmistakably Napa Valley Cab.
