Quick Overview

Is there no greater thrill than sipping pink wine on the patio with a close friend as you hash out all the big life issues? It can't be just any pink wine, though.  It needs to be a real rosé, dry with a body, something more than a simple white yet not so ponderous as a heavy cab.  Alexander Valley Vineyards Dry Rosé of Sangiovese represents the ideal wine for those friendly -heart-to-heart sessions.  Light but flavorful, complex yet not coy, this is a dry rosé that demonstrates a worldly nature.

From the Winemaker

We farm a small Sangiovese vineyard exclusively for this rosé and prune heavily to promote even ripening while maintaining acidity and minerality in the grapes. We leave the juice in contact with the skins for a few hours ot achieve the perfect pink hue, then cold ferment in stainless steel to maintain the bright flavors. Our dry rosé of Sangiovese jumps out of the glass with intense aromatics and is rich and full bodied with big flavors of strawberry, watermelon, raspberry and mint. The Wetzel Family Estate, located on the property settled in the 1840s by Alexander Valley namesake Cyrus Alexander, showcases the history, tradition and excellence of the region.

Critical Commentary

David McIntyre Washington Post
"An  exceptional rosé, one of the best I've ever tasted from the United States, electric with   strawberry, watermelon and raspberry flavors."

Wine Advocate
"Alexander Valley Vineyards has  fashioned one of the finest dry  rosés  I have ever tasted from  California…similar to a French Tavel...."
